St. Joseph’s Villa and The Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, in response to the expressed needs and preferences of this community, designed a non-profit seniors’ residential housing project in Dundas, Ontario. St. Joseph’s Villa was established in 1879 and is the care center of this well planned seniors’ community. The two St. Joseph’s Estates buildings were built in 1996 in keeping with provincial direction and addressing the expressed wishes of seniors to continue to live independently.

St. Joseph’s Estates provides an independent lifestyle within a supportive and caring environment. Two low-rise buildings of 53 units each include one, two and three bedroom units. Especially designed for the older adult, this facility offers many special features:

  • Secure entrances
  • Full ensuite kitchens
  • Quality construction and Appointments
  • Social facilities
  • Ensuite bathrooms and generous closets
  • Accessible design
  • Ample storage and in-suite laundry room

The residences are located on the Villa Campus, overlooking a natural ravine. This exquisite setting is adjacent to local shopping and public transit—the best of both worlds. Life-Equity projects have successfully provided secure and high quality independent accommodations in many communities across Ontario.

St. Joseph’s Estates is a Life-Equity project, which allows equity advantages associated with home ownership. Occupants are entitled to occupy the unit for life, or for as long as they are capable of independent living. When the unit becomes available, it will be sold at the current market value. Occupants, or their estate, will receive 90% of the unit’s current market value on resale.
