What do I need to get started?
Once you have successfully completed your interview, the following will be requested by the Manager of Volunteer Services:

- Orientation – Participation in an orientation session must be completed before volunteering can start. A scheduled date is confirmed once all documents have been received.
- Two Positive Reference Checks
How often can I volunteer?
We recommend that you volunteer a minimum of once per week. However, we do our best to accommodate you and your current schedule.
Can I volunteer with my family and/or friends?
Definitely. However, we do require everyone to successfully complete all requirements prior to volunteering. We will do our best to accommodate these requests.
Can I choose what role I would like to do? How do you decide?
We count on our volunteers just as our residents do! Provided you are successful during the interview process and have all the proper checks and screening in order, we’ll make a choice based on your interests, skills, availability, opportunities and where we need you most! Our residents thank you! Not everyone who completes an application is successful but we appreciate your passion to get involved.
Do you accept student/cooperative education placements?
Yes, we do offer unpaid student placements. We try to accommodate as many student placements as possible. Our positions offer opportunities for you to acquire new skills, interests, increase self-esteem and leadership skills.
Who is your ideal volunteer?
Different qualities are needed based on the role you are assigned to. However, we do look for individuals who are committed, dependable, independent, friendly and compassionate.
