GENERAL INDOOR/OUTDOOR VISITS
Our Therapeutic Recreation Department and re-deployed staff are happy to support residents and families to stay connected through:
- Phone Calls
- Skype & Zoom Video Calls
- Window Visits
- General indoor/outdoor visits in designated locations
When Hamilton is in the Green or Yellow stage of the COVID-19 Response Framework, each resident may have up to two visitors each week. General indoor/outdoor visitors must review infection prevention and control materials and the Villa’s “Safe Visiting” policy prior to attending a visit, and monthly thereafter (for those who visit on a regular basis). Indoor visitors (only) are required to complete a COVID-19 rapid antigen test and may proceed with their visit upon receiving a negative result. All visitors are required to wear the appropriate face covering and abide by other infection control and operational requirements. Failure to do so may result in a visit being suspended and future requests for visits being denied until the visitor agrees to comply. It is not recommended for children under the age of 8 to attend in-person visits. Children count as 1 visitor.
Please contact your Therapeutic Recreation Staff for more information or to schedule a time when you can connect with a Villa resident. Once your visit is scheduled, click here to review the required education materials, and begin the attestation process. We’re here to help!
ESSENTIAL CAREGIVERS
Residents or their substitute decision-maker(s) may designate up to two essential caregivers for each resident to provide support such as personal care (I.e. grooming or dressing), eating, social and/or emotional support. These designated essential caregivers must complete steps prior to the commencement of these types of visits. This process can be initiated by clicking here.
Prior to the first visit as an essential caregiver, each caregiver must attest to have reviewed the “Safe Visting policy”, and reviewed infection prevention and control training materials regarding putting on and taking off personal protective equipment, and how to hand wash.
Essential caregivers must also complete a COVID-19 rapid antigen test upon arrival and receive a negative result prior to entering the resident home unit, re-review the above-mentioned materials on a monthly basis, and are required to attest to fulfilling these requirements as they screen into the building at each visit.
Essential caregivers will be provided with a photo ID which must be worn at all times during the visit. Essential caregivers must also wear procedure masks which will be provided while performing active screening upon entry to the building.

These types of visits are subject to the same infection prevention and control practices described above for both the resident and individual accompanying him/her. The individual picking up the resident must screen in upon arrival to the building, and before leaving after drop off. Both the resident and individual must abide by infection control requirements including wearing a face covering (if the resident can tolerate it), practice physical distancing and hand hygiene frequently.
