This past year can perhaps best be described as the year of the 4 C’s – Change, Courage, Challenge, and Community.

Maureen Ellis, President & CEO, St. Joseph's Villa FoundationChange – St. Joseph’s Health System embarked on a new model of collaboration amongst our system partners, bringing with it new and exciting opportunities. We also have changes in the executive leadership at the Villa.

Courage – Driven by an unshakable belief, rooted in the historic mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, that seniors deserve leading edge care with dignity and respect, the Villa and Foundation Board, staff and volunteers continue to fight for the quality of life of our residents day by day.

Challenge – In addition to meeting the financial obligations that come with our new home, there is a growing list of unmet needs such as research to improve “best practices”, equipment, furnishings, additional renovations and upgrades that need to be funded. We are constantly working to obtain specific gifts that enhance the quality of life for our residents today such as the recent gift of computers, as well as legacy gifts like bequests to address the future, all in addition to our general fundraising work.

Community – We cannot do it alone. What we have accomplished would not have been possible without the support of family, friends, donors, sponsors, volunteers, staff, corporate partners and prayers.

In July 2010, staff, residents, Board and volunteers gathered to express best wishes to our Villa CEO, Paul O’Krafka who retired after 28 years of distinguished service with St. Joseph’s Health System and 22 years with St. Joseph’s Villa. His leadership was always based upon the needs of our residents and his drive to provide the best for them.  Congratulations to Shawn Gadsby on his appointment to the position of President, St. Joseph’s Villa. We are excited by the prospects of working with Shawn as we go

forward with our Mission.
